Fast & Furious is back for a 10th part of a saga initiated in 2001. Should we be tempted by this new film? We saw it in preview.
A first-choice automotive cast
As you announced AutoPlusthere is one Delorean Alpha 5 in the new Fast & Furious. With its electric motor and its butterfly doors, it is obviously the car of the geek Cipher (Charlize Théron). This tenth part also marks the return of Alfa Romeoas in Fast 6in this case a nice coupé bertone GT 2000 year 1972 driven by Han through the streets of Rome. He is obviously pursued by an armada of’Alfa 159 of the Carabinieri while Roman (Tyrese Gibson) shows off at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracan in gold livery, a tad too bling bling. As for John Cena who embodies Jakob, the brother of Dominic Toretto, he remains faithful to the Pony Cars aboard an old Mustang 3 bi-ton preserved from his youth, before he took out the heavy artillery with a sublime pick-up/rocket launcher tinkered with by himself. No doubt, we are in Fast & Furious.
A muscle car festival
The franchise still relies on the pater familias character of Dom (Vin Diesel) whose acting performance is limited to a one and only facial expression : frown before emitting a rumbling sound in his deep voice. But like any good head of household when he goes shopping, he drives a Dodge. Faithful to the brand of the Chrysler group (now Stellantis), he sometimes opts for a Load Recent R/Twhen he saves Rome from a bomb that rolls like a pinball, sometimes for his good old B-Body de 1969 with its 7.0 L 426 Hemi V8 adorned with the huge supercharger qi protruding from the hood. It is with this vintage muscle car that he attaches himself to helicopters or lines up alongside a beautiful Datsun 240 Z yellow, facing the Chevrolet Impala 1966 mauve of his cruel enemy Dante (Jason Momoa) during a wild run in Rio.
Interesting detail, if the Dodge Charger began his film career in pursuit of boiled (it was the car of the bad guys chased by Steve McQueen in a Mustang), it was also a Charger called General Lee that starred in the TV series Sheriff, scare me! (1979-1985). The question therefore arises whether the franchise Fast and Furious would not be like this TV series with the two redneck cousins Luke and Bo who spent their time doing jumps to escape the Marshall. However, just like a series, the saga Fast and Furious has its more or less successful episodes, recurring characters, flashbacks and summaries of previous episodes.
The new villain is amazing
Precisely this 10th film of the franchise is really a notch above the pathetic 9th opusthanks to the extravagant and oh so refreshing presence of Jason Momoa. The series actor Game of Thrones or Seewhen he is not playing Aquaman in the Justice League (DC), seems to be having a blast taking on the role of Dante Reyes, an overlooked young psychopath who seeks revenge for his father’s death in Fast 5. He wears baggy purple pants, charms like Hannibal in theAll Risks Agency and loves the nail polish that matches the carpet in her car. Jason Momoa uses his talent to dump a big second degree ladlecheerfully mocking the sacrosanct family of Dom (Vin Diesel) who takes everything literally to the point of becoming tiring.
By dint of being hyper moralizing and straight in his boots with his pendant cross and his blessings in front of the dinner, we are not even surprised to see the characters come back from the dead. After the resurrection of Han and his eternal bag of peanuts, in episode 9, the 10th part reserves a surprise which announces a splendid finale for the next film still with the French Louis Leterrier to realization.

Should we go see Fast & Furious 10?
22 years after the release of the first Fast & Furious (2001), which had renewed the “car movie”, the motorized adventures of Dominic Toretto and his family are still worth the detour for the choice of cars always well felt, its TV series atmosphere and the colorful villain Jason Momoa.
Less unrealistic stunts than in episode 9 and its devastating magnet, good punch lines well felt, various decorations according to the missions (Italy, Portugal, London, or Rio) and above all a wickedly wicked villain… In short, Autoplus had a lot of fun.
