Shares of Power Grid sold out more

Senior Reporter: The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has been given another 30 days to sell shares of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB). BPDB has received approval from the regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) to extend the time.

According to stock exchange sources, BPDB on May 19 this year announced the sale of 3 crore 43 lakh 53 thousand 41 out of 57 crore 69 lakh 8 thousand 306 shares of the company. Of this, 1 crore 74 lakh 6 thousand 560 shares of the company remained unsold. BPDB has got 30 more days to sell the unsold shares.

In the first nine months of the current financial year (July ’20-March ’21) PGCB’s net profit after tax declined despite an increase in revenue. During the period under review, the company’s revenue increased by 12.28 percent, but net profit decreased by 9.46 percent.

According to the report, the company’s revenue in the first nine months of the financial year was 1,559 crore 15 lakh 8 thousand 450 rupees, which was 1 thousand 36 crore 84 lakh 40 thousand 338 rupees in the same period of the previous financial year. As a result, the company’s income has increased by 160 crore 31 lakh 36 thousand 114 rupees in nine months.

The net profit of the company during the period under review was Tk 280 crore 2 lakh 18 thousand 908, which was Tk 309 crore 30 lakh 35 thousand 219 in the same period of the previous financial year. As a result, in the first nine months of the period under review, the net profit decreased by 29 crore 26 lakh 18 thousand 312 taka. The company’s earnings per share (EPS) for the nine months stood at Tk 3.93, up from Tk 4.34 in the same period last year.

In the third quarter of the current financial year (January-March), the company’s revenue was 473 crore 98 lakh 50 thousand 528 rupees, which was 413 crore 8 lakh 53 thousand 12 rupees in the same period of the previous financial year. As a result, the company’s revenue increased to 60 crore 19 lakh 97 thousand 514 rupees in the third quarter.

The net profit of the company during the period under review was 100 crore 74 lakh 69 thousand 264 taka, which was 80 crore 23 lakh 72 thousand 508 taka in the same period of the previous financial year.

As a result, net profit increased by Tk 30.61 crore in the third quarter. The company’s EPS for the third quarter was Tk 1.41, up from 99 paise in the same period last year.
