– Boss Level – Play again

This time, his basic lineup to Timeless Times returns in a spectacular action film in which a retired soldier experiences the day of his death over and over again. I really enjoy being able to write about movie screenings again and not criticize the sometimes very dubious quality of movies or series from streaming providers. Of course, there are also works that would fit on the widescreen (Pieces of a Woman, The Talk of the Chicago 7, Tyler Rake: The Evacuation), but mostly Project Power – The Power of Dust, The Strike Team, 365 days or Hubie, the hero of Halloween, had to scratch together some meaningful thought. In recent days, however, it has been possible to deal with films that really have something to write about. And luckily for the current tutorial, Boss Level – Play this one again.

Roy can tell you that every day is the same. For he truly experiences the same day over and over again, which always ends with his death. It may have something to do with his ex-girlfriend, who was just working on a time-like device (surprise!) And our hero slowly comes together to figure out what to do. So yes, Boss Level – Play could not start again at the Oscars in the Best Screenplay category (although seeing the standard of this year’s gala …), but luckily this genre doesn’t require that either.

The story is so good and it always moves forward just as it is already starting to become stenciled. There’s a funny action orgy here, family drama, a cautious love thread, so everyone can find a part of their own taste in the big picture. For me, the favorite part, though, was when the makers let go of the reins and let their wildest ideas get on the canvas. By this time, Roy is already acting routinely and dying, sometimes in a distinctly funny form.

Frank Grillo, best known for Captain America – The Soldier of Winter, was a hit. The actor was apparently lubricated in the role. You enjoy it just as much when you need to take action as when you just have to spend an emotional moment with a family member. He is assisted very nicely by Naomi Watts, who, although featured relatively little in the film, does there fairly what the film demands of him.

Mel Gibson, who this time is given the role of evil, was featured prominently on the poster and in the advertising campaign. Unfortunately, it is not explained exactly what your motivation is, but you don’t have to. A typical one-dimensional character who is barely in the film. Gibson shakes that out of his little finger, but it’s a shame he only got that much. What remains to be highlighted are computer effects. Unfortunately, it really shows how low-budget director Joe Carnahan and his team worked for Hulu – at the same time, they solved the task well to the best of their ability. Luckily, there is plenty of blood, splashing whatever it takes during shots and sword fights.

Boss Level – Play again has a very brave / annoying ending that is sure to share with your audience. Nevertheless, this film is also one of the time-looped works that should not be missed by fans of the subject, because they are able to introduce a new one into the already known formula. So if you’ve seen the classic Timeless Time Island, the romantic Time from Time, the funny Palm Springs, and the fantastic Boundary of Tomorrow a thousand times, then Boss Level – Play your movie again. 7/10
