– It’s about protecting children from content that can be very violent. There may be scenes of strangulation and violence, says the party’s legal representative Karina Lorentzen to Ritzau.
Today, it is already illegal to sell pornographic image and video material to children and young people under the age of 16 in physical stores.
– It is strange that there are rules for this in the physical world, but that children and young people on the internet can in principle access everything, she says.
In 2021, Mediesundhed for Børn og Unge published a report together with Analyze Danmark and MyResearch on how digital content of a pornographic nature affects Danish children and young people.
It showed that 71 percent of Danish young people have seen porn before they turned 15. 46 percent felt that porn had had a negative effect on them.
– It is difficult for many parents to follow what their children and young people are doing on the Internet. I believe that we must support them, says Karina Lorentzen.
SF has not yet settled on how the age check, which is to enforce the age limit, should be specifically designed.
However, Karina Lorentzen emphasizes that it is important that the check is designed in such a way that no personally identifiable information is stored.
– There are already many systems for doing age checks. In England, there is a system that can make age-basing based on people’s faces. It could also be a form of NemID validation, which is not personally identifiable, she says.
In September, France is expected to introduce a digital passport to ensure that children under the age of 18 cannot access internet porn.
SF’s announcement comes before the Folketing on Thursday is to vote on a citizen’s proposal which, among other things, wants to block minors from accessing pornographic material on the internet.
