The leadership of Cluj-Napoca and Oradea on the partisan is the most effective according to this year’s ranking of UrbanizeHub, which is present in the world and promotes the sustainable development of cities. Torda, the Resica Mine and Brasov also ranked well in the top list of the best Romanian local governments, also published by the daily Krónika. Unsurprisingly, Transylvanian municipalities are in the majority in the evaluation of Romania.
As reported by the newspaper in Cluj-Napoca,
The main criteria of the current ranking were how innovative the municipalities were and how much EU support they managed to draw in the last funding cycle.
According to UrbanizeHub experts, the effectiveness of running a city is also shown by the strength of the economic sphere. The evaluation calculated the gross domestic product per capita in a settlement, the proportion of young people who graduated there, the proportion of the amount received from local taxes from the city’s revenues, and the purchasing power of the population.
Cluj-Napoca is inevitable when it comes to sustainable urban development, according to UrbanizeHub experts, who say that the Transylvanian city, inhabited by fifty thousand Hungarians, is the first Romanian settlement that can be compared to Western Europeans at all. The second place went to Oradea, which is also home to 47,000 Hungarians, mainly due to the fact that in the period 2007–2015, the county seat of Bihar called for the most EU support, about 140 million euros. You have managed to double this amount for the current funding period. Oradea will also benefit from a good relationship with the economic sphere, an idea and the courage to change – quoted the experts of the Chronicle UrbanizeHub.
