Sentenced to a year in prison, Ferry Irawan is judged to have committed light domestic violence

Suara.com – Ferry Irawan returned to trial with a verdict agenda at the Kediri District Court, East Java, on Tuesday (23/5/2023). As is known, Ferry Irawan’s status is a defendant in the case of Domestic Violence (KDRT) which was reported by Venna Melinda.

The Panel of Judges stated that Ferry Irawan was proven to have committed domestic violence against his wife. Therefore, the Judge sentenced Ferry Irawan with article paragraph 44 paragraph 4 and the indictment of article 45.

The sentence of 1 year in prison for Ferry Irawan was lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU), which was 1.5 years. According to Jeffry Simatupang, Ferry Irawan’s attorney, Article 44 paragraph 1 that Venna Melinda reported was aborted, so the sentence was lighter.

“The judge’s decision acquits Pak Ferry from Article 44 Paragraph 1. That is the basis for the decision. What is subject to Article 44 Paragraph 4. This means that Pak Ferry’s alleged crime is an alleged minor crime, which does not interfere with his work,” said Jeffry Simatupang, quoting Kompas. com.

However, Ferry Irawan has yet to decide whether he will file an appeal. “The prosecutor has not taken a stance or thought about it. The point is we are waiting for the prosecutor,” he added.

In flashback, Ferry Irawan was suspected of being the perpetrator of domestic violence which caused Venna Melinda’s nose to bleed. The incident at the Grand Surya Kediri Hotel on January 8 2023 forced Ferry Irawan to spend time in prison, while Venna Melinda is now ready to stand for election with the Perindo Party.
