Sensing Unit module for Canon imagePRESS C910 series

New Sensing Unit module for the series imagePRESS C910 increases productivity by automating color registration and calibration

Canon Europe has introduced a new Sensing Unit module for the imagePRESS C910 series of digital color printing presses, in response to the growing demand for advanced printing press automation. This option, already available for Canon’s flagship imagePRESS C10010VP series, will allow both commercial printers and in-house print departments to consistently achieve the highest quality printed material in less time and without manual operator intervention.

Eliminating the need for time-consuming manual calibration, the Sensing Unit features two sensors – a contact image sensor and a spectroscopic sensor. They monitor front-to-back registration and the color tonality of each image before and during printing, automatically adjusting them to suit the task settings, from the first to the last sheet, regardless of the operator’s skill level. This real-time adjustment to print media contributes to the high level of automated color calibration offered by the built-in Multi Density Adjustment Technology (Multi-DAT) function, which makes adjustments on the fly to match the section printed on the image transfer tape.

Hiro Imamura, Vice President, Marketing and Innovation for Document Solutions at Canon Europe, comments: “The imagePRESS C910 is a robust production device with diverse talent that combines productivity, quality and flexibility. It has been highly attractive to commercial and internal customers since its launch, and we have continued to develop its capabilities, first thanks to additional finishing solutions for booklet trimming and long-wire connection, and now with the new Sensing Unit module. This will prove particularly useful for many clients who, in light of recent global changes, have found themselves under pressure to meet short deadlines and high quality expectations with smaller teams, so they need to focus qualified resources where they add the most value to clients. . “

The new Sensing Unit module for the imagePRESS C910 series is commercially available from Canon and accredited partners from October 7th.
