Prague – Former leading Czech professional boxer Lucie Sedláčková is returning to the ring and wants to try to restart her career. The former holder of the WBC World Silver Band has not fought in the spring category for almost three years, but on Wednesday she scored her third fast-paced victory in Prague’s Lucerna and believes she has big matches ahead of her again.

“I think there will be a surprise next year. I don’t want to reveal anything until everything is signed. But this is America, a longer-term contract with the manager,” Sedláčková said after winning over Polka Karina Kopinská. “I promise big things from that. I hope I can box big matches, and I’m really looking forward to it,” she said. According to her, it should be clearer in January.

Sedláčková and her friend and boxer Štěpán Horváth moved to Monaco in 2019, where they signed a two-year contract with the Ambitious Monaco stable. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, they did not have a single match under its banner. “It was terrible and mentally demanding. I was still training, and to confess, I was slowly hoping to still box,” said the 27-year-old boxer.

After the expiration of the contract, they started to take care of the match program themselves and quickly arranged two fights in Germany. In August, Sedláčková defeated compatriot Ladislav Holubová, and two months later Sonja Pilipovičová from Bosnia and Herzegovina. “It was a start-up match, I haven’t had a good time in three or four years,” she said.

In the past, Sedláčková trained under the guidance of Lukáš Konečný, now she has started training under the supervision of another prominent figure of the Czech amateur and professional scene, Rudolf Kraj. “My two-year contract with an organization in Monaco, which we did not extend, ended, and Štěpán (Horváth) and I got our own matches in Germany, which we all started again. And we didn’t have a coach, we were alone in Germany. Then we got an offer for Lucerne and Štěpán have agreed with Ruda, whom they know. And I joined in, “Sedláčková said.

Under the leadership of the silver medalist from Sydney 2000, she would like to continue training. “The cooperation suited me very well and I would like to continue. We have been together for three weeks now, we got to know each other and I sit as a coach,” she said. Even Kraj, which currently runs its club in Mělník, does not oppose continued cooperation. “It also kicked the boys at our club. We don’t have a girlfriend there, so Lucka had to pair with our juniors and it worked,” Kraj said.

In addition, Sedláčková diversified her training with elite Czech MMA fighter Lucie Pudilová. “She’s my longtime friend, so I asked her if she would come. I only paired with the boys and needed to try it with the girl. We’ve boxed a few times in the past. Now it’s only been one day since she came back from the camp in Ireland. But I hope we will do it again. It was great, “said Sedláčková, adding that the joint training also helps the Puduls. “We’re not going into our field. Lucka has improved a lot in boxing,” she said.
