Sebago opens first physical store in the Benelux in Antwerp

The American shoe and clothing brand Sebago has opened its first physical store in the Benelux in Antwerp. The 100m² flagship store can be visited on the Nationalestraat, which also houses the Fashion Museum and well-known Belgian designers.

The design of the new store, designed by architect Sarah Livemont, links back to the origin of Sebago’s name, which literally means ‘large amount of water’ by means of blue facades and curtains.

On the occasion of the opening, Sebago also designed a patch with the Antwerp skyline, which can be found on some of the garments.

Sebago was founded in 1946 in Maine and is best known for their ‘Penny Loafers’ and ‘Docksides’ shoes. In the 1960s they started expanding into Europe and today they are active in one hundred and twenty countries worldwide.

Within Europe they also have stores in Spain (seven), France (two) and Italy (two). There are also two more stores in South Africa, one of which was recently opened in Cape Town.

Since 2017, it has been part of the Italian BasicNet SpA, which also owns Kappa, Robe di Kappa, Jesus Jeans, K-Way, Superga, Sabelt and Briko, among others.
