At one point, the crowd of clerics overran the gathering ground and spread to Jindabazar, Bandarbazar, Court Point, Kamran Chatwar, Surma Point, Taltala VIP Road and Taltala Point. The whole area became a sea of people. No rickshaws or autorickshaws were seen on the roads of these areas till 5 pm.
It affects the entire city. Drivers and passengers were stuck in traffic all day at almost all the busy points including Ambarkhana Chowhatta Lamabazar Rikabibazar Mirzajangal.
Besides, thousands of religious Muslims from four districts of Sylhet division also joined the rally. Maulana Mohsin Ahmad presided over the opening ceremony of the conference. Maulana Shaikh Zia Uddin, Maulana Alimuddin Durlabhpuri presided over the subsequent sessions.
Maulana Rashid Ahmad, Maulana Ahmad Sagir and Maulana Sirajul Islam were present in the rally and Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Maulana Mufti Rashidur Rahman Farooq, Maulana Nurul Islam Olipuri, Maulana Nurul Islam Khan attended the rally.
