Scam at PKN ORLEN – you can lose money. The concern warns

PKN ORLEN warns against financial scams appearing on the Internet, in which someone pretends to be a company in order to extort money. You can never get your savings back.

Incentives to invest in PKN ORLEN shares

For several months, on the Internet, you have come across graphics with the PKN ORLEN logo encouraging you to invest in the concern’s shares and its investment projects. There are frequent references to government support on banners. You can also see the smiling President Andrzej Duda and the president of the fuel company Daniel Obajtek. Both hold promises of high profits. “These advertisements use unlawfully the name, trademarks and images of representatives of the company and state institutions” – informs PKN ORLEN.

Such ads appear primarily on social networks such as Facebook or YouTube, as well as on “numerous websites and mailings”

How does such a fake trading platform work? You have to leave your details – e-mail and telephone number. Then a representative of the company calls back, offering huge profits if a sum of money is donated. The customer gets a preview of the website where he can see how his money is “earning” and is encouraged to make further “investments”. The problem arises when he wants to withdraw money. Then suddenly he faces difficulties, his account is considered “suspicious” and blocked, or it turns out that he has to pay a high commission for the withdrawal of funds, or the victim is suggested to open an account on the cryptocurrency exchange, where it can be used as a “pole” for transactions of a criminal nature.

“We expressly emphasize that individual investors may only invest in PKN ORLEN shares through licensed brokerage houses and banks conducting brokerage activities, the full list of which can be found on the website of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority” – it was stated in the information.

PKN ORLEN also ensured that its “direct communication” to potential investors is carried out only through official websites, such as: and or through official profiles in social media –, and

“PKN Orlen never calls customers with a proposal for individual investments,” the company said in a statement. And he appealed: “please be extremely careful and report false advertisements and fraud attempts to the address [email protected] or to the relevant law enforcement authorities.”
