SC Freiburg is currently not allowed to play its home games on Friday evenings because of a local resident lawsuit
The legal dispute between SC Freiburg and residents of the new Europa-Park Stadium will enter the next round in February.
In the main proceedings at the Freiburg Administrative Court, it is to be decided whether the Bundesliga soccer team can also play on Friday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes (1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) in their new home ground. The hearing is scheduled for February 9th and 10th, the court announced. The “Badische Zeitung” had previously reported on it.
The complaining residents want to obtain a judicial revocation of the building permit for the stadium from November 2018. In the preliminary legal proceedings before the Administrative Court of Mannheim, they were partially right in the second instance, which is why the sports club is currently not allowed to play its home games on Friday evenings.
The ban on Sunday lunchtime would only be important in the 2nd Bundesliga, because the games there already start at 1.30 p.m. on Sundays.
