“Saving the planet by sharing used goods”… Gangseo-gu Magpie Sharing Market returned after 3 years

‘The Magpie Sharing Market’, the representative second-hand market in the southwestern part of Seoul, will be held at Wondang Neighborhood Park behind NC Department Store at 10 am every Saturday from next month. It has been three years since the suspension due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Magpie Sharing Market was started in 2013 in Gangseo-gu to promote reuse and recycling and to spread the culture of donation and sharing.
According to Gangseo-gu (Kim Tae-woo, head of the district), daily necessities such as baby products, kitchen utensils, and second-hand appliances can be freely exchanged, bought and sold in the marketplace.
To stimulate resident participation, the seating area per person and the number of items sold are limited. An ‘autonomous fundraising box’ is placed in the marketplace so that sellers and visitors can donate voluntarily. The money raised will be used for the low-income and vulnerable groups through the ‘Winter in Hope Ondol in 2023’ project.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “I hope that the sharing market will create an environment that coexists with nature, purchase products at a low price, and bring the joy of delivering donations to underprivileged neighbors.”
The Magpie Sharing Market is open until November 26. If you want to sell goods at the market, you can apply for it at the Naver Cafe ‘Machinam Market Cooperative’ or by phone (02-2602-2522). For more information, please contact the Gangseo-gu website (gangseo.seoul.kr) or the Resource Circulation Division (02-2600-4057).
Residents are exchanging and purchasing used goods at the Magpie Sharing Market, which was last held in 2019 before the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
