The second screen on the outside is new. That grows from 2.1 to 3.4 inches and partly runs around the cameras. The larger size ensures that you can read your notifications more easily without opening the device. You can also use the display to shoot selfies with the two lenses on the back. At first glance, the cameras look the same as last year. It is a main camera and wide-angle lens, both with a resolution of 12 megapixels. It may be improved versions, but we can’t say anything about that yet. In the large screen you will find a ‘regular’ selfie camera. Samsung still does not provide the Flip with a telephoto lens. Zooming in without loss of quality therefore remains impossible.
The battery is also unchanged. It again has a capacity of 3700 mAh and charges with a maximum of 25 Watts. That is quite slow in 2023. The Flip 5 continues to run on Android 13 and gets four major version upgrades. In addition, you can expect security patches for five years that keep hackers out.
Dust resistant for the first time?
Another yummy, with the euphonious name Chunvn8888, claims that both the Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will receive IP58 certification. That would mean that the housing is dust-resistant and waterproof. The current models are only protected against water.
