Sale of medicines for children with hyperactivity reaches maximum values ​​in 2022 – Society


The sale of medicines with methylphenidate, recommended for the treatment of hyperactivity and attention deficit, reached, in 2022, the highest value since 2003, according to data from the National Medicines Authority (Infarmed), cited by the Newspaper.

Last year, 288,217 packages were sold, a value considerably higher than in previous years. Sales of these drugs reached a peak in 2015 (283,000), before dropping considerably in times of a pandemic (220,000 in 2020).

Another analysis by Infarmed, also cited by Jornal de Notícias, reveals that, in 2021, methylphenidate was the most prescribed drug for children aged between 10 and 14 years.
