Stamatis Spanoudakis: He overcame the mobility problems

Saint Spyridon helped Stamatis Spanoudakis to stand on his feet again. The shocking event was confessed by the well-known composer himself through his personal Facebook page. Stamatis Spanoudakis in the summer of 2016 was facing mobility problems, which in fact had forced him to move in a wheelchair.

Such was the magnitude of his problem, that he wondered whether or not he should cancel a concert he had planned for Corfu, which was dedicated to the completion of 300 years since the miracles of the patron saint of Corfu in 1716.

His desire to give this concert was intensified by the fact that he wanted to hear his new song entitled “Corfu and the Saint”.

His doctor Spyros Nikas visited him at the hotel, where he stayed and began to take the first steps and stood for six hours and thought: “Here is the miracle of Saint Spyridon”.

“Here is the miracle of Saint Spyridon”
The concert was postponed due to bad weather but the next day was successful.

Read exactly how the well-known composer himself wondered about this shocking experience on his personal Facebook page:

“Corfu and the Saint”
It was an expensive experience, the one I lived-lived, in the concert of Corfu. I start with my own.

I was in bed for three months with pain, pills, injections and two surgeries and every day I said: “How can I postpone it, how can I expose and disappoint so many people?”.

And with a “God has and the Saint will help”, sitting in a wheelchair, they took me with the help of George Vlachos, home-airport-plane-Corfu-hotel, where I finally lay down. I thank Aegean for its wonderful staff, but also for its president Mr. Vasilakis, because they did everything to make me comfortable.

So Spyros Nikas, an osteopath, comes to the hotel to see me, sent by my classmate and dear friend, Maria Voulgari.

Present were Polyna’s daughter, our friend Matoula (Physiotherapist) and Dori. He “teased” me for a long time with his hands and he tells me “get up”. I laughed a little and after a lot of “getting up”, I got courage, I got up and we went for a walk without a cane in the corridors of the hotel, with pain, but standing.

Walking in the dark corridors of the hotel, seemed to me like a walk in the flowery and fragrant gardens.

The same night I rehearsed with the technicians, musicians, organizers, the wonderful choir of Corfu with the sweet conductor Christina Kalliaridou and the impeccable and measured Philharmonic “Kapodistrias” with the expensive conductor Michalis Michalopoulos where the day will be .

I was standing for 6 hours. “Behold the miracle of Saint Spyridon” I say to myself.
Να What can I say about Father Themistocles and his “children”, whose prayers and love made all this effort. He sleeps well and is always close to the Beloved. Together with the volunteers and the scouts (I was like that as a child and I kept crying and asking for my mom). I do not like anything team. I love peace. But I appreciate and respect those who offer as a team.}

And the day of the concert is coming. Three and a half thousand people came to honor us. All is well, a small rehearsal in the afternoon and at 9 pm the so approachable Metropolitan of Corfu Nektarios comes on stage, he says some words about the day, the Saint and me. Immediately after, the philharmonic played the “Stone Age”, the orchestra and the choir came up and played the introduction “In the court of the King”.

And as soon as I step on the step to go on stage, doom. A tornado that was dissolving the stage, taking speakers, lights and chairs and the technicians and organizers were doing well, we had no accidents. Soon a torrential rain starts and now the people are soaked, they ran to hide in the arches of the fortress. Lampis Theodorou, the “nanny well ready for everything” dived into me, put me in the car and rushed to the hotel. But passing through the arches, I saw the people soaked waiting for the weather to stop. And despite the fear of Lampis not to hit, I go down and go near and into the world. The love I felt, the caresses, the kisses, the blessings filled me more than any concert.

Back at the hotel, the director, Costas Karabatsos, had prepared a rich “consolation meal” as a gift for all the musicians and technicians. (I think they left nothing). I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

In my room, with my friends-organizers George Bilalis and Alexandros Karavanis and Lampis, we tried to explain “Theologically” what we experienced. After we agreed that we did not understand anything, he each went to his room.

Alone now with Dori, I tell her:

“It’s my fault. Is everything perfect as soon as I was buried? The Saint expelled me “
And the cries catch me thinking about all the lame and crooked things of my life and Dori wants to comfort me and tell her “go away, this inner sweet rain, is for my good. “Let me cry.” (And then they tell you, men do not cry).

The next day the concert was one of the most beautiful I have ever done. And another world, warmth and serenity and angels all around us. People welcomed and asked again for the choir I wrote especially for the concert entitled

“Corfu and the Saint”. I praised and paid tribute to my loves. Christ, little Maria, my favorite heroes and of course, mother Greece. Thank God and the whole world with me.

What else can I ask for? and who else can I thank from Him who gives everything when you ask, you lower and you have to?

Of course, why all this happened, I miss, is above my cheap logic and so I am left surprised but sure of everything, as a small child, in His hands.
