Sahin big dream: “I want to train Dortmund”

Nuri Sahin has been really taking off as head coach for almost half a year. As coach of the Turkish first division club Antalyaspor, he has put together an impressive series, leading the club from a relegation zone to the secure midfield of the Süper Lig. The 33-year-old secretly dreams of returning to his great love, BVB.

In a video interview with “Tivibu Spor”, the 33-year-old newcomer initially explained that he was pursuing ambitious plans with Antalyaspor: “I’m very happy here. I want to stay here.”

Sahin has signed a five-year long-term deal with the club, for which he played as a player until last autumn and played the first eight games of the season until October.

Born in Lüdenscheid, who played for the first time in the Bundesliga at the age of 16, he made no secret of what he defined as a major career goal as a coach: “I have goals: I want to win trophies. I want to be successful. I want to coach Dortmund.”

BVB master trainer Jürgen Klopp as Nuri Sahin’s mentor

Borussia Dortmund is the great love of the 51-time Turkish international. For BVB, he appeared in more than 270 competitive games, interrupted by a few foreign stints at Real Madrid, FC Liverpool and Feyenoord Rotterdam. He celebrated great successes with the Black and Yellows, such as the German championship in 2011 and the DFB Cup victory in 2017.

Before he went from player and captain to head coach at Antalyaspor, Sahin had an intensive exchange with his ex-coach Jürgen Klopp. Sahin is already dreaming of following in the footsteps of his mentor at BVB, with whom he says he has never completely broken off contact.
