The situation at the Gerontology Center in Sabac is alarming because 125 users out of a total of 153 became ill.
14 patients were accommodated in the General Hospital, and four people were on oxygen support, while one patient died.
The health condition of the patients is stable, it was said at the session of the Crisis Staff.
In addition, part of the staff, 20 employees of the Gerotnology Center, were infected.
Twelve doctors and 11 nurses from the General Hospital were sent for help.
However, the question of responsibility also arises in the Gerontology Center, the Institute of Public Health as well as in the Crisis Staff how this situation came about.
On January 6, Podrinske novine had information about the infection of a number of users of the Center.
Two days later, after other checks, an alarming situation in this institution was published on the portal of this paper, and it was not until January 10 that this was discussed at the Crisis Staff.
The situation from the previous period of the pandemic is repeated, where the heads of medical institutions, otherwise SNS cadres, kept silent about the infection in the maternity hospital and in the infectious department of the General Hospital, as well as in the Postal Savings Bank.
The director of the Gerontology Center, Marija Markovic, also a member of the SNS, has been avoiding contacts with the media all this time, and for ten months, any contacts with relatives and close users have been banned. However, it is obvious that certain omissions have occurred, but it is incomprehensible that the information is still hidden.
Even the Crisis Staff warned that only official views were conveyed, but it turned out that he reacted only after Podrinski’s writing.
Another 52 patients were registered in Sabac, which is a total of about 1,100 infected people. Compared to the previous period, when there were up to two hundred patients, in the last few days the number of infected people was less than a hundred.
There were more than two thousand infected in this third wave, which is more than in the second wave of the pandemic.
