Ryzen 7 5800X3D has overclocking disabled, but it has already managed to push it to 4.74 GHz

Although AMD has blocked the standard method of boosting the processor, where there is will, there is a way.

The 5800X3D processor has overclocking disabled due to the vertically stacked V-Cache. It has heat problems at higher beats and also otherwise scales with a voltage that is set at a maximum of 1.35 volts. As a result, the processor has lower beats – a maximum boost of 4.5 GHz, but thanks to the massive 96 MB cache, its performance in games is excellent.

Because standard clock squeezing methods such as multiplier and PBO (Precision boost ovedrive) are disabled or disabled, only the BCLK (base clock) clock option remains. It is known to operate on the motherboard and therefore its frequency also affects other components, which is not exactly ideal.

Nevertheless, SkatterBencher drove the 104 MHz BCLK processor up to 4.74 GHz. It worked on an Asus Crosshair VIII Extreme board with water cooling. Thanks to the tweaks from Asus, which allow you to enchant with CPU voltage, Skatter was able to release 1,375 volts into the processor. In terms of temperatures, it’s quite hot – in Prime95 (small FTT, AVX enabled) the processor sweated at 93.4 ° C at a frequency of 4.21 GHz (all cores) and a voltage of 1,176 volts. With the AVX turned off in the same test, the frequencies jumped to 4.36 GHz, the volts to 1.208 and the temperatures dropped to 86 ° C.
