Russia threatens Lithuania with “serious” consequences

The NATO country Lithuania’s decision to stop shipments of goods subject to sanctions to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad has made Russia look red.

On Monday, Russian Senator Andrei Klimov threatened that Russia would respond by “ALL means” if Lithuania does not end this “unacceptable blockade.”

Now Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of Russia’s Security Council, says the Kremlin is preparing “appropriate measures” against Lithuania.

These countermeasures will “have a serious negative impact on the people of Lithuania”, Patrushev continues according to Russian state RT.

On Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Markus Ederer, the EU’s envoy to Russia, to demand that Lithuania end the blockade. Lithuania has referred to the fact that it is acting in accordance with instructions from the European Commission.
