Russia says military aid to Kiev proves NATO wants escalation

The Russian ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Vasily Nebenzya, said that the increasing volume of weapons sent by the West to Ukraine indicates that NATO is seeking an escalation of the conflict.

At a meeting of the UN Security Council convened by Russia itself to discuss the supply of Western weapons to Kiev, Nebenzya said that the “West is waging a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine”.

“Western states persistently continue to say that they are not parties to the conflict, that they are only helping Ukraine to defend itself. However, the reality is exactly the opposite. The West is waging a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. meeting of this Council on the shipment of Western weapons to Ukraine, in February, not only did their volume not decrease, but it continued to grow”, argues the Russian diplomat.

“This proves the intention of the NATO member states to escalate. Obviously, they are not interested in any peaceful solution to the conflict,” added the Moscow representative.

According to Nebenzya, the shipment of increasingly powerful weapons to Ukraine, in combination with the continuous provision of intelligence for attacks and training of Ukrainian soldiers, make these western countries “not just parties to the armed conflict with Russia, (. ..) but also complicit in war crimes of the Ukrainian armed forces and nationalist battalions”.

The ambassador concluded his statement by stating that “Russia reserves the right to take all necessary measures to neutralize security threats”.

“The objectives of the special military operation will be achieved”, he stressed.
