Russia claims to have rejected Ukraine’s counteroffensive

The administration in Moscow announced, on Monday evening, that the Russian army repelled the Ukrainian offensives in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, claiming that the Ukrainian forces suffered significant losses, informs the daily Le Monde.

“Attempts of military offensives” in the regions of Kherson and Mykolaiv, in the south of Ukraine, were rejected, and the Ukrainian military forces recorded “major losses”, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.

“This new attempt at offensive operations by the enemy has failed miserably,” the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed.

The director of the Administration in Kherson confirmed, on Monday evening, the start of a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian army, asking the locals to stay close to the civilian shelters and not to approach the Russian troops.

“The Ukrainian armed forces have launched a counter-offensive in several areas in the south. We ask the residents of Kherson to follow the security instructions, to stay close to the shelters and away from the Russian positions”, said Iaroslav Ianuchevichi, the head of the Kherson Region Administration, quoted by Le Monde newspaper.

“What is happening now is the beginning of a well-prepared and balanced counteroffensive. Ukrainian planes are passing the front line”, declared, for his part, Serghei Hlan, adviser to the regional governor.

“The Ukrainian army initiated offensive actions in several directions, on the southern front, with the aim of liberating the occupied territories,” previously declared Natalia Humeniuk, the spokesperson of the Southern Operational Command. Operations are carried out on the ground and with air support.
