Rothko Center invites artists and creative groups to submit their projects for exhibitions

An application form has been developed, with the help of which an artist, creative association or curator can propose his exhibition project for implementation at the Mark Rothko Art Center. Applications will be evaluated once a year, at the end of May. All proposals received from May 1, 2020 to April 30 of the current year, will be considered. In the first week of June, all applicants will be informed about the selection results on an individual basis.

Artists of any direction, creative associations, curators or groups of exhibition organizers are encouraged to offer the center their art projects by filling out an application form. In it, it is necessary to describe the concept of the exhibition (concept, artwork, their volume, required area), as well as add visual material that will allow to fully appreciate its artistic qualities.

Daugavpils Art Center named after Mark Rothko is a multifunctional center of contemporary art, culture and education in the historic building of the Daugavpils Fortress artillery arsenal. Along with a permanent exhibition featuring original works by Mark Rothko and outstanding works of art from the center’s collection, the center presents new exhibition projects every season in collaboration with artists and curators from around the world.

The art world is now more than ever in the planning phase. While artists create new works, curators form the concepts of exhibitions, and art critics write reviews about past events, art spaces are planning and waiting for a festive moment when they can resume receiving visitors.

Daugavpils Art Center named after Mark Rothko is also planning a celebration of her re-opening, preparing the upcoming exhibition seasons and hoping to attract new art projects to her premises.
