Roses in orange | LifePress Magazine

Take advantage of the first sunny weekend and go camping. And be sure to try this recipe – roses in oranges.

They are so easy to make and cook over a campfire. Prepare the roses in advance, and bring oranges and aluminum foil to the camping trip.

We found the idea on a blog Desire2create, where they used ready-made dough for orange roses. We bring you the recipe for these roses, and it’s up to you to prepare them before camping and take them unbaked on the road.

For the dough:

  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup (250 ml) of lukewarm water
  • Orange peel, grated
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 egg
  • 2 spoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 to 3.5 cups of all-purpose flour
  • A bit of salt

For file:

  • 2 spoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Cinnamon as desired

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of orange juice
  • A little grated orange peel

Prepare the roses almost before baking. Pack them in a plastic container. Prepare the dressing separately and take it in a bowl. You will bake them while camping.

Prepare the dough. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water. When it rises, put it in a large container, add a little orange peel, orange juice, sugar, salt, egg, butter and 1.5 cups of flour. Beat with a mixer on the lowest power until the ingredients are combined, then increase the power and beat for another 2 minutes.

Add the rest of the flour – as much as is necessary to knead a fine elastic dough with your hands. Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes. Cover and leave in a warm place to rise until doubled – 1 or 1.5 hours. Knead the dough and roll it into a rectangle with approximate dimensions of 38×23 cm. Brush it with butter, then sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Roll up and cut into 15 rings about 2.5 cm wide. Store them in a container and take them camping.

Prepare the topping separately. Mix sugar, cream cheese, orange juice, orange peel and vanilla and mix until you get a nice creamy mixture.

When you come camping and build a fire, eat the oranges first. Cut them in half and hollow them out. Place a rose in each half. Wrap the packet in aluminum foil. Place them on a high heat and bury them or in the fire on the side. (You can also put them in a pan or pan, cover with foil and grill on a wire, over the campfire). You cannot determine the baking time exactly, but check them after 10 to 15 minutes. It takes about 20 minutes to bake them.

When they are baked, unwrap the foil, and put a little cream cheese topping over each rose. Enjoy!
