Romania sends firefighters to Greece

Romania sends to Greece on Friday a module consisting of over 100 firefighters, 23 trucks, tanks and a command center, announces the head of DSU, Raed Arafat.

“Several countries have asked for support – Turkey, Italy, Brother, Albania, Greece. All of Europe is trying to help. I’m talking about forest fires. We have submitted air and ground support offers. It depends on what the affected countries accept. Today, after discussions with colleagues from the Greek Civil Protection and the European Civil Protection, we submitted a proposal for a module from IGSU, which will include 112 firefighters, 23 trucks, of which six forest fire trucks, two tanks, a command center, a high power generator, two mobile camps for the own use of our staff, an intervention bus, four minibuses ”, says Raed Arafat.

He said IGSU had pre-alerted the mode.

“After the acceptance came, the mobilization order was given in order to prepare the departure during tomorrow. (…) The proposal is for ten-day assistance, with the possibility of extension. (…) This is the first time that Romania sends a terrestrial module for forest fires outside the country “, adds Arafat.
