“Romania did not allow itself last year, it does not allow itself this in 2021 either”, says the prime minister Florin Cîțu after CCR decided that the law that allows the increase of pensions by 40% is constitutional.
“Romania did not allow itself last year, it does not allow itself this in 2021 either. But the law is currently being enacted. The president has two options – re-examination in Parliament or to promulgate it “, says the prime minister Florin Cîțu regarding the decision of the RCC which established that the law that allowed the increase of pensions by 40% is constitutional.
The Prime Minister reminded that in 2020 the value of the pension point was increased by 14%, which means an additional effort this year of nine billion lei.
“The efforts made last year were very big and can be seen this year as well. Last year’s increases are also supported this year, especially considering that inflation has steadily decreased since 2019, which means that purchasing power has increased “, adds Cîțu.
On Wednesday, the RCC judges rejected the Government’s notification regarding the law for approving the rectification of the state budget and the state social insurance budget for 2020, which provide, among other things, for a 40% increase in the pension point, they declared for AFP official sources.
