Last April, Rivian made known the new options for the drive systems of its models, and yesterday – May 25 – the American company announced that the production of the R1T with the two electric motors has begun, at its plant in the city of Normal, Illinois.
Rivian says the launch of the dual-motor R1S and R1T unlocks additional production capacity as production of the R1T/R1S Quad-Motor – which feature third-party units – continues to ramp up.

Dual-Motor models have one electric motor per axle, making them four-wheel drive. The power of the system is 600 horses and 812 Nm of torque in the basic version, while there is also the Performance, where the power of the whole is 700 hp and 950 Nm of torque, with Rivian stating that for 0-96 km/h it takes 3 .5 sec.

Finally, let me remind you that at the top of the range there is the Quad-Motor AWD system, which produces 835 hp and 1,230 Nm, with 0-96 km/h coming in 3 seconds. The transmission in question is not compatible with the Max Pack, with Rivian working on it but not yet giving a timetable.
