Rivian delays deliveries of R1T and R1S with very large battery

When Rivian introduced the R1T and R1S it had announced that its pickup and SUV would be available with three battery packs. “Small” with a capacity of 105 kWh, “Large” with 135 kWh, and “Max” with 185 kWh.

Sales of the R1T and R1S have already begun in the US market, with Rivian currently equipping its two models with only the 135 kWh battery.

With it, the R1T and R1S deliver 765 horsepower and 1,120 Nm of torque, with 0-96 km / h coming in 3 seconds and 0-160 km / h in less than 7 seconds. In addition, according to the EPA, the actual range of the electric R1T and R1S is at 505 and 508 km.

The CEO of the American company, RJ Scaringe, recently sent a letter to its customers, informing them that Rivian will delay the construction of the R1T and R1S with the “Max” battery until 2023, as in 2022 the company will focus on increasing production of vehicles with the “Large” battery pack.

With the “Max” battery, the R1T and R1S are expected to have a range of 645+ km per charge, but this configuration is only about 1/5 of the 71,000 pre-orders (just over 14,000 customers) that the company has received so far in the US and Canada. Scaringe added that Rivian will reach out to those customers who pre-ordered vehicles with the “Max” battery in January, to see their interest in designing a new vehicle so that they can pick up their vehicle in 2022.

The version with the 180 kWh battery delivers 710 horses with 1,120 Nm of torque, with 0-96 km / h doing it in 3 seconds, while 0-160 km / h in less than 8 seconds. Finally, the weight of the car with the largest battery is announced at 3,137 kg, with a towing capacity of 3,500 kg, while the maximum water depth it can cross is 90 cm.
