Review of the Vivo X60 Pro – A phone that will probably stay on the bench

  • Vivo flew into the Czech market with a trio of cheap middle-class phones – without success
  • He wants to fold the repair with the swollen flagship model X60 Pro
  • It is based on an exceptional camera or refined design
  • But the price is not exactly aggressive. Will an unknown Chinese succeed in the Czech Republic?

Vivo came to the Czech market in February and brought with it three lower-middle-class smartphones. Basically, these were low-end phones that had only a slight chance of success – after all, they are competing with Xiaomi or, for example, with Realme. Will a similarly difficult situation regarding low competitiveness now be repeated with a diametrically different Vivo X60 Pro flag? We will try to answer this in our new review!

First of all, it should be noted that Vivo packed its latest flagship model very nicely. In a flat but wide package with a square floor plan reminiscent of a sweet box of chocolates, we find, in addition to the phone, an adapter, cable, case, SIM needle and even an archaic element that takes us back a few years – wired earphones.

There is beauty in a simple design

The Chinese manufacturer obviously makes the first impression. The phone is pleasantly tapered, quite light for today’s conditions, and the frameless effect works perfectly. In addition, it will delight the premium feeling of refined materials, such as matte aluminum finishes on the sides and glass on the back. The dimensions are 158.58 × 73.24 × 7.59 millimeters, the weight is specifically 177 grams.

The front and back are covered by 6th generation gorilla glass. The matching of the glass surfaces with the metal monolith is at a perfect level and when trying to break Vivo holds like a rock. The mobile phone fits easily in the palm of the hand, but due to the matte surfaces, it is not a problem for it to slip out in an unobserved moment. The protective cover should eliminate this; however, it also eliminates the feeling of premium materials.

I may have tapped it a bit, but the design of the phone is definitely one of the benefits. It is simple, tapered on the sides, aligned at the bottom and top. But it is not original, it is very reminiscent of the good memory of the Huawei P30 Pro. There are unnecessary words and marks on the back, but the photo module looks minimalist (paint is peeling off the edges). The left and top are clean, the right are the buttons, the bottom is the USB-C port, the slot for two nanoSIM cards and finally the speaker vent.

Speaker just down

Surprisingly, sound reproduction in the flagship segment of the Vivo X60 Pro is provided by a single speaker. He thus suffers from most of the pain that mono speakers have. Wednesdays are not bad, the volume is adequate. However, the treble is blurred, the depths are beaten, and in general, the purity of reproduction is at a very poor level – dense guitars and a similar style of music sounds downright bad.

Display from a better price

The screen of the Vivo X60 Pro definitely deserves a nice introduction. We have a rather unusual 6.56 inch diagonal format with a 20: 9 ratio. The display is AMOLED and the resolution cannot be lower than Full HD +. If you have noticed, there is no biometric reader anywhere on the body. The manufacturer used a classic optical and placed it in the display. It works surprisingly well, serving in 8 out of 10 cases. But the upper shot for the front camera came to my taste too big, with a diameter of almost 4 millimeters!

Whether it’s the color rendering or the smoothness of the display and the sharpness of the textures, nothing should be a problem. My set color mode was standard, and it certainly didn’t occur to me that Vivo would drive this or that color above others in any way. From the point of view of subtlety, I could already imagine a sharper panel, after all, I found some raster on the surface without much scrutiny.

The Vivo X60 Pro display is definitely one of the better ones

But it is necessary to take into account that the Vivo X60 Pro is a flag for 20 thousand. From that point of view, there is still great praise for the HDR10 + and also the 120Hz refresh rate. In addition to this option, the manufacturer also recommends intelligent switching between 120 and 60 Hz. In any case, I tried to use the 120Hz frequency as much as possible in all cases in an effort to make the news out of the novelty.
