LAMAX sent us the LAMAX Dots2 headphones to the editorial office for testing. Can these plugs fight between so many competitors?
Introduction
LAMAX Electronics has been expanding in our market in recent years and no wonder. For reasonable money he can offer decent products. This time it’s LAMAX Dots2.
LAMAX Dots2 arrived in a simple small box, where we find a charging dock, a pair of headphones, a USB-C charging cable and a replaceable rubber earring with instructions. On the packaging we will find basic information such as support for Siri and Google Assistant, battery life or support for BT5.0
These headphones are symmetrical even if we find L / R on them due to control. Otherwise, it almost doesn’t matter which ear you put them in. Swap channels to the maximum. Unfortunately, L / R is written in small white letters on the headphones, which of course is not very visible at night. The dock is about 2 euros wide and is as high as it is. Personally, I liked the packaging very much and the plastic is very pleasant to the touch. Personally, he sometimes seduced me to play and throw with the packaging. Unfortunately, its higher height prevents it from being worn comfortably in a trouser pocket.
On the back of the charging station we find the USB-C connector and on the front again 4 LED battery indicators. The cover holds magnetically and I must say that very well even in the open form. The headphones are also positioned themselves using a strong magnet. However, there is a classic 2-pin charging connector on the bottom of the headphone. On the headphones we can also find a big “A”, under which there is a button for controlling and pairing the headphones. As I have already indicated, both headphones are symmetrical and there is no such thing as a “master-slave”, so we find practically no input lag here. The charging dock weighs 32 grams and the handset alone only 3 grams.
The headphones themselves last up to 6 hours on a single charge. In practice, I was able to get close to this value and during the entire testing period, I did not charge the station even once for about 14 days. The manufacturer claims that the headphones charge the dock up to 5 times. The dock has a capacity of 550 mAh and supports Qi Wireless charging, which, by the way, the manufacturer does not even properly promote. You can find out about it just by looking at the box. There is no mention of the Qi Wireless support dock itself.
The headphones fit well in the ears and practically do not look. Although they fell out of one ear once or twice during testing. I was surprised by the quality of the microphones. Even when using one handset, the other party heard me without any problems. The inverters are capable of playing the frequency range 20 Hz – 20 KHz. You are so limited by bass below 50 Hz. Second, it is the default value for low-cost devices.
Practice
I liked the almost instant pairing, there was no delay. I probably liked rap and Hip-Hop the most, where they have balanced bass. If you are looking for bassed bass, choose something else. The heights were also fine. However, the overall impression of rock music was weaker. Probably for a limited range of headphones. The headphones are noisy enough and you will use them at a maximum of 80% volume. As I mentioned above without any problems, I got to 4.5 – 5 hours of music playback, but most often you will still use them longer (they will be charged via the dock). The headphones hold well in the ears, but I personally prefer a different rounding of the earphones. The controls are classic – double-click to move the song forward and triple-click backward. One click to turn music on or off. Long hold to invoke Siri / Google Assistant. The overall impression of the headphones is rather above average.
Conclusion
LAMAX Dots2 headphones will definitely not be lost among competitors. They will please with a very small charging dock, good endurance and very decent sound delivery due to the price. Personally, the shape of the headphones did not suit me, but someone can appreciate their symmetry. I appreciate the fact that the headphones are not master-slave, so we have almost no response here. The charging dock will be pleased with the support of wireless charging, which I do not understand that it is not mentioned anywhere on the dock. The dock is very well made and pleasant to the touch. For a price of around 50-60 €, you can easily enter them into your viewfinder.
