The ability to prove epidemiological safety again with a negative coronavirus test result depends on how the spread of the omicron strain affects hospital congestion in the coming weeks, Health and Labor Minister Tanel Kiik said.

“If we talk about the return of testing, then the condition for this will be a decrease in the burden on hospitals, a clear improvement in the situation. In this case, the government will revise the rules of the coronavirus certificate in order to relieve tension in society and give more freedom of action to certain sectors,” said Kiik, whose words transfers rus.err.ee.

According to him, in the first half of January, the government does not intend to make significant decisions regarding restrictions and will monitor the distribution of the omicron.

The Cabinet of Ministers intends to discuss the situation with the coronavirus on Tuesday. Prime Minister Kaya Kallas announced on December 23 that the current restrictions will continue to apply after January 10.
