Retail chain Deleuze Serbia is among the champions of sustainable business

The digital platform for food donation “Plate by plate” of the retail chain Deleuze Serbia was chosen as one of the winning projects of the “Sustainability Champions” competition.

This valuable award, which demonstrates the company’s ongoing approach to food surplus management and donations, was presented during the Sustainable Development and Business Week organized by the Responsible Business Forum and Smart Collective as part of the Sustainable Development for All Platform supported by the Swiss and German governments. , and conducted by GIZ.

In this way, the Forum for Responsible Business strives to promote good business practices and ways in which companies, as part of industry and the community, can contribute to meeting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the award ceremony within the “Sustainability Champions” competition which have included the goals of sustainable development in their business and sustainability strategies and provided a concrete contribution to their achievement.

“Plate by plate” is the first digital platform for food donation in Serbia, which was created with the aim of simplifying the process of food donation and in order for larger quantities of food to reach humanitarian organizations and end users on an annual basis.

The platform was created in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and represents an upgrade of the humanitarian project “We help those who do not have it”, which the company Delez Serbia has been implementing since 2015 in cooperation with the Food Bank Belgrade. 70 humanitarian organizations are involved in this project, and thanks to it, more than 5,000 tons of food have been donated so far.

A new digital model of food surplus management

Delez Srbija’s corporate communications manager, Milica Popović, said that they are responsible for managing food surpluses and providing assistance to those who need it the most for years, a strategic part of the company’s business.

“In order to further improve our action towards a common goal, with the support of partners, we have developed a new digital model of food surplus management. The retail chain Deleuze Serbia also won recognition for its contribution to the project “Save food, save humanity” within the traditional CSR forum, in which the company and customers donated more than 14 tons of groceries, as well as funds in the amount of one million dinars for food packages. associations from the south of Serbia.
