Restaurants could reopen thanks to QR codes to be scanned in TousAntiCovid

How to reopen restaurants and sports halls, closed since the end of last year in order to prevent contamination with COVID-19? The TousAntiCovid application could be used to scan QR codes in establishments.

The government is discussing with representatives of the catering sector to reopen the rooms of establishments, closed for several months as part of the fight against the epidemic. For these professionals who can only maintain themselves thanks to state aid, hope is the vaccine but it will take a significant number of French people to be vaccinated to hope to be able to resume more or less normal activity.

Orange or red alert

However, the countryside is experiencing supply difficulties, which slows the pace of vaccinations. This is why the public authorities plan to put the TousAntiCovid application to work. According to LCI, a decree being drafted would define a QR code system to be scanned with the app when going to a restaurant.

If a person who was present in the same restaurant declares a positive diagnosis for COVID-19, TousAntiCovid will be able to warn the user that he has been in contact with a sick person. He can therefore take the necessary precautionary measures (testing and isolation). If the restaurant has multiple services, this information would be taken into account so as not to unnecessarily alert people who have not had lunch or dinner with a positive person at the same time.

The decree, which would also apply to sports halls, also provides for a distinction between large restaurants (up to 200 square meters) and smaller ones. In the event of a positive person, an orange alert would be triggered for large rooms, where the mixing is more important. Customers present at the same time as this person will be invited to take a test. On the other hand, if three positive diagnoses are reported, the alert will turn red: customers will have to isolate themselves and be tested.

TousAntiCovid could therefore make it possible to open earlier restaurants and sports halls, or even cultural places where this QR code mechanism could also apply.
