Report accusing lessee-incompetent sailors

The investigation committee formed in the case of boat sinking in Karotaya river of Panchagarh has submitted its report on Sunday. Immediately after the incident, the district administration formed a five-member investigation committee headed by Additional District Magistrate of Panchgarh Dipankar Roy to find out the cause of the boat sinking. There was an instruction to submit the report within three days but later the time was extended by another three working days. They submitted the report on Sunday.

Dipankar Roy, head of the investigation committee and additional district magistrate, said, “We also perform the duty of opening the information center along with the recovery of the dead bodies.” For this reason, the application was extended by three days. The report has been submitted to the District Commissioner on Sunday.

District Commissioner Md. Zahurul Islam said, we have sent the investigation report to the government. I will take necessary measures according to their instructions. The charterer and unskilled seamen are liable in case of boat capsizing. Besides, 7-8 reasons have been identified in the report. The report made several recommendations. Along with that, police and fire service also investigated. Action will be taken as per instructions after submission of three reports.
