Reloaded – Land Rover Defender 110 D240 Test – Car Engine

By the end of his career, the Land Rover SUV, developed in 1948 for agricultural use, had come to an end, but he could not deny its commercial vehicle past. With the new model carrying the Defender name, a luxury car parallel can already be discovered, so the difference between the two generations is heaven and earth. The designers celebrate the box shape, there are also retro references, and if there’s no other car next to it, it doesn’t even show how huge the body is. This can also be felt in the size of the interior, with the help of handrails helping to bridge the problem of the approach.

The design of the dashboard is good, the surfaces that are easy to clean and a lot of storage are appropriate in a normal SUV. It can be accommodated in recessed leather / fabric upholstered seats, there is tablet holder preparation and an immediate power supply on the back of the seat backs, and additional USB and cigarette lighter connections are also available on the front and rear consoles. The operation is largely straightforward, you just need to get used to the fact that the climate panel is also a digital field menu selector, and the details can then be fine-tuned on the touch screen. It is unlikely that the owner will need all this knowledge of the terrain, but it is good to know that crossing the stream or mowing in the mud is not a problem if necessary. Traction capacity (3.5 tonnes) is expected to be used more by customers. Air suspension is the best thing that can be done with this tall and heavy car, as it is so comfortable to drive without disturbing body movements, it is amazing how far the system can completely iron out road errors.

There is a lot of space in the second row, they also thought of the passengers living in the digital world, it does not disturb much water, but the sunlight coming from above is pleasant. We find a real control station on the left side wall of the trunk and a bag holder. No starter generator, no more 2.0-liter diesel

Shortly after we had the Land Rover Defender 110 test car, the resource that drove it said goodbye. There was no electrification for the 2.0-liter diesel, the successor to the soft-hybrid, 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder diesel with software-modest performance. With this, only one comment about the D240 biturbo diesel became mortal: the more spontaneous gas reaction was missing. It took a few moments for the turbos to spin up, the automatic transmission in the series to engage again, and the empty 2.3-ton aluminum body to start. The base price of the new six-cylinder hybrid diesel is approaching 21 million, but it is common in the premium category. There is no such stylish design in the competition, and in many cases no such spacious cabin.

Defender knows more in the field than the average user dares

I LIKED IT
• external and internal appearance
• air suspension
• spacious and comfortable cabin
I DID NOT LIKE

• the dynamics of the mass can be felt
