As part of the calendar of activities for the celebration of Martorell European City of Sport 2023, the City Council of Martorell continues to organize a series of seminars with the aim of generating knowledge and sharing experiences about Healthy Sport at the service of the ‘Education, Culture and Social Cohesion.
Next Thursday, June 29, the seminar ‘What do we mean when we talk about values in physical activity and sport?’, from 9.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., will take place in the Joan Cererols Auditorium of the Martorell Cultural Center. You can consult the full program of the day and make your registration now through the following link.
For many years, the physical activity and sports sector (public, private, not-for-profit, commercial private…) have filled our mouths with the story of the positive individual and social values that the practice of physical and sports activity generates. But, at the same time, we can all appreciate and experience situations in which certain practices of physical activity and sports, in no case, can be considered positive from the perspective of individual and social values.
Various authors in the fields of anthropology and sociology defend the thesis that sport has no values in itself and that they are not their own qualities, but are the result of assessments made by individuals, companies or institutions.
The welcome and introduction to the seminar will be given by the journalist Núria de José Gomar, vice-dean of the College of Journalists of Catalonia. Next, it will be put into context ‘What are the values?’ with Albert Juncà, doctor in sociology of sport and vice-rector of the Faculty of the University of Vic-Universitat Central de Catalunya. We will continue talking about ‘The values at stake: reflections from a psychological perspective’ with Pere Alastrué, General Health and Sport psychologist.
Then it will be the turn of Mauro Valenciano, professor of physical education and associate professor at the Faculty of Education of the University of Barcelona, who will talk about ‘Minibasket, model of mini-sports and educational sport’. Carles González, head of the Physical Education Department of the INEFC and Pati Roura, director of the Johan Cruyff Foundation, will also speak, who will deal with ‘Social intervention in sports environments’.
The seminar will close with a round table moderated by Valentí Santos, director of the Municipal Board of Care Services for People of Martorell, and the final conclusions by Núria de José Gomar.
