Red Card: Interrogations continue at 9:00 this Friday – Justice

The interrogations of the detainees under the ‘Red Card’ process, including the president of Benfica, Luís Filipe Vieira, will continue on Friday, from 9:00 am, said today the Superior Council of Magistracy.

“For the continuation of the interrogations, tomorrow was scheduled from 9:00 am, waiting for the detainees in this situation until the end of the interrogation”, reads the statement.

In the same document, the CSM says that, at 19:45, after a meeting between the judge, defense lawyers and prosecutors, defenders were allowed to “continue to consult the evidential evidence” until 22:00. The businessman and president of Benfica Luís Filipe Vieira was one of the four arrested on Wednesday in an investigation that involves deals and financing in excess of 100 million euros, with losses for the State and some companies.

According to the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP), what is at issue are facts that could constitute “crimes of breach of trust, qualified fraud, forgery, tax fraud and money laundering”.

For this investigation, 44 search warrants were carried out to search companies, residences, law firms and a banking institution in Lisbon, Torres Vedras and Braga. One of the places where searches took place was the SAD of Benfica, which, in a statement, said that it had not been constituted as a defendant.

In the same process were also arrested Tiago Vieira, son of the president of Benfica, football agent Bruno Macedo and businessman José António dos Santos, known as “the king of chickens”.
