Record amount of energy generated by solar panels at PostNL parcel sorting centers

PostNL has a total of 25,208 solar panels at 24 parcel sorting centers. With this, a record amount of energy was generated last year. By 2020, the sorting centers generated an average of 49 percent of the energy they use. That is almost 10 percent more than the year before.

PostNL’s buildings are getting greener. The seven newest parcel sorting centers, for example, have a so-called BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certificate. That is a quality mark for the most sustainable buildings with minimal environmental impact.

PostNL has sorting centers that are gasless and use installations that recover heat. And 24 PostNL sorting centers have a total of no fewer than 25,208 solar panels. Those panels have performed very well in the past year.

PostNL will continue to take ‘green’ steps in 2021. By installing the first solar panels at the letter sorting centers. Discussions are also underway with landlords who rent large industrial halls about installing solar panels at those locations.
