Recipe of the week: Oriental kuglof – Recipes

The scent of the East and the shape of the West as a perfect combination. Of course, nothing would be so perfect without my imagination.

Not everything has to be strictly according to recipes and rules.

Do not despair if you do not have some of the ingredients because you can always find an adequate substitute.

Use what you can afford. Do not long for expensive and inaccessible ingredients.

I am still under the influence of the taste and smell of the East, especially India.

This is how this oriental cake-kuglof was created, for which I did not have a recipe until I designed it.

I don’t know if kuglofi is prepared in India, but I highly recommend them to prepare it according to my recipe 😉

The cake has an oriental taste, so I believe they would like it.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 200 ml egg whites:
  • 120 g of brown sugar (or ordinary);
  • 10 g of vanilla sugar;
  • 80 g of melted ghee or regular butter;
  • 80 g of flour of your choice;
  • 80 g of ground almonds;
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder;
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon;
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder;
  • 1 teaspoon of grated lemon peel;
  • a pinch of nutmeg;
  • (if you have green cardamom, add some)

Glaze:

  • 100 g of chocolate;
  • 3 spoons of water;
  • 1 teaspoon ghee or ordinary butter.

Preparation:

Beat the egg whites and sugars until stiff, add the melted butter, then add all the other dry ingredients. Mix and bake in a kugloff mold (or in an ordinary mold with a diameter of about 20 cm) for about 40 minutes at 150 degrees.

Cover the cooled kuglof with chocolate glaze and decorate as desired. You can use chocolate chips, any nuts, raisins and the like.

You can also cover the kuglof with yogurt sauce with the addition of spices, honey and some berries.

Since I don’t like yogurt, I replaced it with chocolate

With kuglof, you can serve ginger lemonade – ginger, lemon, honey, water, mint.

It is written by Kristina Gašpar, author of the blog A hostess for you. Kristina is the creator of numerous recipes that have found their well-deserved place in valued printed editions.

On the “blogging” scene of Serbia, many people recognized her because of her photos. Many, at the same time, do not believe that she takes the photos herself, and usually with a rather old smartphone model. Her vegan and vegetarian recipes attract special attention.
