The Slovak low-Tatras resort Jasná received the green light from the International Ski Federation (FIS) to host the women’s World Cup downhill skiing at the end of next week.
A huge slalom is planned under Chopok on Saturday, March 6, and a day later a slalom will take place. In both cases, the current leader of the SP evaluation, Petra Vlhová, will also be among the favorites.
On Thursday, Jasná also passed the last inspection by the FIS, which was in charge of the Pole Wojciech Garewski. “It is prepared so that it could be driven here tomorrow. Only slightly lower temperatures are missing for perfection. This was a regular inspection, which takes place everywhere ten days before the race. The snow is good, so we approved the track, “he revealed.
On behalf of the Slovak organizers, Jana Palovičová, the sports director of the race, commented on the inspection.
“We have the latest from the FIS focused on snow quality, measurement and overall readiness for the race. The snow mat is sufficient, we have enough snow. We already have a compact hill, which means that the preparation of the competition slope planned for the end of the week depends only on when it will freeze, “revealed Palovičová.
In Jasná, it has warmed in recent days just like in other parts of Slovakia. “The snow is therefore excellent, because the slope has compacted. So far, there is satisfaction. We have already finished the training track and the competition track looks very good. Preparations for the SP are going according to plan, despite all measures, “she added.
