Razer unveiled at CES 2021 Project Hazel, a protective mask against Covid-19 packed with technologies. N95 certified, this mask houses two removable and rechargeable active fans capable of filtering 95% of airborne particles. Razer obliges, the Hazel project also embeds Chroma RGB LEDs.
CES 2021 opened its doors on January 11, 2021. Health crisis requires, the international electronics fair will be held only on the web. And after the ball of new generation screens, like this transparent and retractable panel by LG, it is the turn of innovations around the Covid-19 to take center stage.
After the Maskfone, an anti-Covid mask equipped with headphones and microphone, Razer unveiled its high-tech vision of the protective mask: the Hazel project. This prototype can be summed up in four words: safety, sociability, comfortable and durable. Indeed, this mask is packed with technology.
An active ventilation system capable of filtering 95% of particles
Firstly, the Hazel project embeds removable and rechargeable active fans capable of filtering 95% particles suspended in the air. According to Razer, it will be possible to replace and recharge its fans, in particular via a fast charging box. This charging box also has a UV light disinfection system to guarantee the health safety of the wearer.
“LED lights indicate the charge level, and after a full charge, the long battery life allows the mask to be used all day. The waterproof and scratch resistant mask is strong and durable. It is made of recyclable plastic to considerably reduce the waste created by disposable masks ”, assure Razer.

The Hazel project also thinks about your vocal cords
Note that a large part of the shell is transparent, so that “people around you can see your facial expressions […] and allow the hearing impaired to read lips ”. This mask would not be a Razer product without LEDs Chroma RGB. The rings around the two ventilations can therefore light up in the color of your choice. In addition, an LED system automatically activates when it is dark to illuminate the wearer’s mouth.
Another smart addition, Razer has integrated a microphone and a voice amplifier so that the wearer can communicate without forcing, and be heard clearly by his interlocutor. This combo is based on a new proprietary technology from Razer called Razer VoiceAmp. Finally, and despite a weight on the scale much higher than a conventional mask, Razer guarantees that Hazel remains comfortable thanks to silicone protectors (around the nose and chin) and adjustable temples for the ears.
As of yet, Razer has not communicated a release date or potential pricing for its Hazel project. We can’t wait to see the final product though.
