Radeon RX 7600 is not compatible with all power connectors

Just a few days ago, AMD launched the Radeon RX 7600, a compact entry-level option with 1080p gaming. While the cooler and graphics card design in AMD’s reference version cools well, other details are less well thought out. The problem mainly affects power connectors of the 6+2-pin type, where two of the connector pins “hang” to the side. The plastic edge that locks the two extra pins to the rest of the connector is in some cases too high and receives a protruding edge from the graphics card’s cover plate.

Contacts that don’t fit stand out well against those that go all the way in.

Upon closer inspection of SweClocker’s sample, the problem is visible there as well – some connectors with larger plastic edges do not fit. It should be noted, however, that most of the connectors SweClockers has lying around fit, including several 6+2 pin connectors with a slightly flatter locking mechanism.

The slightly rougher variants that do not fit are not as common, especially not for newer power supplies, and the only model the editors use more frequently belongs to Nvidia’s tool PCAT, which is used in graphics card tests.
