Qualcomm unveils its Wi-Fi 7 network platform

Despite the announcement of the platforms, the Wi-Fi 7 standard itself is not expected to hit store shelves until 2024.

Qualcomm has released its new Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series Wi-Fi platform for enterprise-class base stations as well as more expensive end-to-end traditional routers and mesh routers. The platforms are promised to reach a peak speed of up to 33 gigabits per second over 16 streams and a more stable connection with less interference.

The new range of Wi-Fi modems that support Wi-Fi 7 consists of a total of four different platforms. Full 33 Gbps and 16 streams are supported by the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Networking pro 1620 platform. The lightweight Qualcomm Networking pro 1220, on the other hand, supports a maximum speed of 21 Gbps over 12 streams, the 820 supports 16 Gbps over 8 streams, and the 620 supports 10 Gbps over 6 streams.

Although Qualcomm has already released its online platform supporting the new Wi-Fi 7 standard, it is not worth waiting for the arrival of new technology on store shelves, as the certification of the new standard is expected to be extended to 2024.
