Mid-range with 4nm
The launch means a new generation of system circuits for mid-range mobile phones.
Qualcomm has now launched Snapdragon 7 Gen 2, which is thus the latest processor in the company’s series aimed at mid-range mobile phones. It uses 4nm architecture and consists of eight cores – four for performance at 2.4 GHz and four more energy-efficient cores at 1.95 GHz. It should also be cheaper for the manufacturers and thus hopefully also push down the prices of mobile phones. However, no mobiles with the new processor have been presented yet.
In addition to computing performance, there is support for 3200 MHz LPDDR5 memory, usb C 3.1 and Quick Charge 4+. The graphics processor can deliver FHD+ resolution with 144 Hz and the Spectra ISP image processor itself can handle cameras of up to 200 MP as well as video recording in 4K resolution with 30 frames per second and HDR.
The wireless connections include 5G with up to 2.9 Gbps, wireless network from Wi-Fi 4 up to and including Wi-Fi 6E including the & GHz band, as well as Bluetooth 5.2.
