Pulsonix PCB Design 12.0 adds 3D collision detection

Pulsonix, an electronic design automation (EDA) company providing circuit board design solutions, announced on April 13 the release of Pulsonix version 12.0, which brings new capabilities, significant speed improvements and much-needed usability improvements. Pulsonix 3D features now include 3D collision detection for multi-board designs as well as board folding.

This allows designers to visualize boards in a stacked or stacked configuration and verify that the boards and components fit into the intended space. Automatic collision detection identifies any space violations, and a new feature is available that allows designers to ignore collisions that are intended for known connection points, such as plugs and sockets.

These new 3D features are integrated into a new consolidated 3D design menu that organizes settings and controls for more intuitive work. This simplifies the interface and allows new features while minimizing complexity.
Pulsonix 12.0 is significantly faster with a new 64-bit implementation and other multi-threaded processing options that speed up time-consuming features. Two specific examples:

  1. Users with large designs will experience significant acceleration due to increased 64-bit address space and multi-threaded library access.
  2. 3D rendering is now multi-threaded, which means that 3D rendering and STEP output can be spread across multiple cores and completed in less than half the time.

Additional rules and DRC control add new features to the Interactive High-Speed option. With new rules such as branch routing length, antenna loop, return path, SMD to corner, and SMD to plane, greater accuracy can be achieved when designing critical advanced circuits. Further improvements to differential pair trace editing further confirm the accuracy of Pulsonix.
