The Chinese Vivo has brought its third flagship – the X90 Pro – to the domestic market. The phone again has great equipment, a great camera and compared to last year, it hasn’t become even a penny more expensive. But there has to be a catch somewhere, right?
The Vivo X90 Pro is not a completely pure successor to last year’s Viva X80 Pro. It follows on from the basic Vivo X80 with year-on-year improvements. The portfolio also includes the X90 Pro+ model, which, however, will not be sold in the Czech Republic. And that’s a shame, because it is the full extension of the uncompromising equipment of last year’s X80 Pro.
In contrast, the X90 Pro has several compromises – and we’ll talk about them all. But first about availability. On the Czech market it is offered in a single memory variant of 12 GB RAM + 256 GB for user data and in black design with artificial leather on the back. The price is 26,990 CZK including tax.
Package contents
Vivo packs its flagship models in a low but luxurious looking paper box. The X90 Pro model is no exception. Inside, the customer will find the phone, a case, a white USB-C / USB-C cable and a 120W charging adapter for the socket. Customers will not find headphones in the package this year.
Design and processing
The new Vivo is a serious phone that does not suffer from any design inconsistencies and manufacturing errors. It has a fairly solid construction from an aluminum monolith, its sides are lined with plastic antenna dividers. The front side is covered with tempered glass and the back is made of plastic imitation leather.
The vegan leather is meant to remind both the luxury and the design of the old Zeiss cameras, which had a body covered with real cowhide. The leather processing of the back of the X90 Pro is pleasant to the touch and to the eye, quite durable, but it certainly may not suit everyone. The body has increased IP68 resistance.
The top and bottom edges are aligned. At the top we find a microphone and an infrared port, at the bottom there is a dual nanoSIM slot, another microphone, a USB-C port and a loud speaker, which, however, lacks clear speech. The sides are narrowed, the left is completely clean, the right contains only the lock button and the volume rocker.
