PSS Sleman Proposes This Regarding the Schedule and Format of the 2021 League 1 Competition – The Managing Director of PSS Sleman, Marco Gracia Paulo, made a proposal for Liga 1 2021. He admitted that the input he had delivered had been carefully thought out.

Marco admitted that he had conveyed his proposal when representatives of the Liga 1 club had a meeting with PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) to discuss the competition on January 15.

That was before PSSI held an Executive Committee (Exco) meeting where one of the main results was canceling the 2020 season and building the 2021 competition. The Exco meeting took place virtually, Wednesday (20/1/2021).

There are two options regarding the format of the 2021 season competition presented by Marco. First, kick-off takes place in May or after Idul Fitri 2021, and ends in December.

The first option, the best format is to hold competitions in two regions. This is to reduce the risk of injury for players with a competition time span that is not as long as before.

However, if the existing situation nationally and regionally has improved, the second option can be used, meaning that all parties are ready for full competition, it can be done in August or September 2021.

But this will change Indonesia’s competition calendar which was previously a full year. So that later the competition that starts in August or September will become a 2021-2022 competition, and finish in April 2022.

In addition, the timeframe for the second option may give you a longer time frame, allowing pre-season tournaments or warm-ups to be held.

Marco explained that the two options had to be considered. The former deputy secretary general of PSSI admitted that there must be a flaw in the suggestions he gave.

“So the two options have their pluses and minuses, which need to be considered which one is better for all of us,” Marco said in the received release, Thursday (21/1/2021).
