Several hundred citizens gathered at the newsroom of the newspaper “Informer” as a sign of protest due to the interview with the multiple rapist Igor Milošević published in this newspaper.
Traffic is blocked in both directions.
The slogans “We’re angry”, “Shit” are shouted, and the gathered people carry numerous banners: “If you’re afraid of the dark, we’ll burn this city down too”, “Women’s trauma is not a choice of income” and others. Slogans demanding the closure of this newspaper are also heard.
Among those gathered are Srđan Milivojević from the Democratic Party, activist Aida Ćorović, as well as Dobrica Veselinović from Ne davimo Belgrade.
Members of the MUP are also present at the editorial office of this newspaper.
“We know that all women’s victories for women’s rights were won by women themselves and no one else,” Jelena Riznić, one of the participants in the protest, said in her speech, referring to the report filed by Informer against the rapist they interviewed.
– Although the Informer today is a symbol of all the bad things that women have been doing to us for years, he is not the only one, this anger is bought here because of the brave women from Petničs, Iva, Milena, girls from Jagodin, and the tabloids wrote that we were to blame.
They are also there because, as she said, of the women who did not survive the violence, and there have been 24 of them since the beginning of the year. She criticized the tabloid reporting on these cases.
– The informer played with our fear, but they overplayed it, because we already live in fear, but we are fearless and that is why we are here, she said.
She added that they want a women’s revolution and women’s values, as well as courage.
After her speech, the crowd chanted “Women’s revolution”.
We remind you that the Women’s Solidarity organization has already organized a protest in front of the Informer newsroom, after that media published a controversial interview with convicted rapist Igor Milošević.
Meanwhile, Igor Milošević was arrested for endangering security.
According to the order of the duty prosecutor of the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, a detention of up to 48 hours was ordered for Igor Milošević due to endangering security and to the detriment of the Informer journalists who conducted an interview with him, the prosecutor’s office announced today.
