Hazel is undoubtedly one of the products on which we did not expect Razer. And among the advertisements of the brand of peripherals and equipment for gamers, it is probably the one that made us want the most. Sorry for the Blade 15 and Pro 17 laptops … Hazel is a mask, available in two colors, with a very elaborate design, but not revolutionary, let’s be frank.
It’s just a super compendium of very good ideas, which has every chance of working if the brand decides to mass produce it and if it is affordable.
The protective mask of tomorrow?
First good idea, the front of the mask is transparent. Better an LED can discreetly illuminate the lower part of your face. Yeah, since when haven’t you seen someone smile or scowl on the street? Or when was the last time you could read your interlocutor’s lips? This Hazel could therefore simplify the lives of people who have hearing problems and read a lot on the lips.
Second good idea: the mask has nasal and facial protection that is positioned over the entire lower face to stay in place and prevent sneaky bacteria from infiltrating without your knowledge. Of course, to ensure that the Hazel is properly maintained on the face, the fastening loops to be positioned behind the ears are adjustable and can be easily removed for cleaning or changing.

Another health advantage of this mask is its N95 surgical aerators. There are two, are equipped with an automatic ventilation device, powered by rechargeable batteries, and incorporating standard filters which can, of course, be changed easily as soon as necessary.
Razer also ensures that its mask is self-sterilizing and can also be disinfected as soon as it is placed in its storage case. The interior of the box is set with three UV lamps which activate as soon as it is closed. The box is also used to recharge the batteries integrated into the mask.
We mentioned it above, in its visor is hidden a small LED to light up your most beautiful smile. But there is also and above all a voice amplifier, hidden in the structure. No more screeching to be perfectly audible and understood when speaking through the mask. It would be possible to adjust the transmission level via a smartphone app to adapt the level to your environment. Smart.
It is also via the app that you could adjust the small circles of LEDs present on the aerators which could both testify to the level of charge but, also, indicate your mood of the day to those you meet in the street.
After the paper masks, the reusable model
At the moment, Project Hazel is not an end product. But the presentation ended on a Coming Soon… and the brand’s spokespersons assured us that prototypes did exist. And that some engineers in Singapore already had them and were testing them.
As a reminder, during the explosion of the pandemic, Razer made it a point of honor to produce disposable masks in some of its factories.
The presentation of Project Hazel also offered the brand a dream opportunity to recall that it had donated more than a million masks around the world and that it had delivered more than 100,000 masks to its community of gamers in need and that part of it had even been distributed by Razer player-clients to others who could not afford it.
