Premiere: Abarth 500e – a decent electric car

Fiat’s performance brand Abarth has put its teeth into the electric car 500e with significantly improved performance as a result.

The launch model of the Abarth 500e, called the Scorpionissima, is offered in Acid Green (pictured) and Poison Blue paint colors.

The regular Fiat 500e is not a powerhouse by today’s standards. It produces just 118 horsepower, 220 Nm and does 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.

The Abarth 500e Scorpionissima is clearly sportier. The output has increased to 155 horsepower and the torque to 235 Nm. This means that 0-100 km/h goes in 7 seconds.

The battery is the same as the regular 500e and has a capacity of 42 kWh. In the case of the standard Fiat, it gives a range of 32 miles, but Abarth has not yet specified a range for its version but it is said to be worse. In any case, it can be fast-charged with a maximum output of 87 kW.

Abarth’s first electric car can make cool “engine noises” – if you want it to.

To further add for the sporty driving experience, the Abarth 500e plays awesome sounds in the speaker when you press the gas. Thankfully, it is possible to turn off the function if you would rather enjoy the fact that the electric car has a silent engine.
